The No-Stress Sizing Guide: How to Measure Your Child for Flower Girl & Page Boy Outfits

The No-Stress Sizing Guide: How to Measure Your Child for Flower Girl & Page Boy Outfits

Buying premium formal wear for your little ones online can be daunting. Unlike stretchy everyday t-shirts and soft trackpants, high-end wedding attire—like structured boys blazer suits or fluffy tulle flower girl dresses—is crafted from exquisite, non-stretch woven fabrics.

A fit that is too tight means an itchy, grumpy child who refuses to walk down the aisle. A fit that is too loose looks sloppy in lifetime wedding photography.

To lock in the absolute perfect fit for the big day, here are the three golden rules every Australian mum needs to know.

📏 Rule 1: Understand Garment Measurements vs. Body Measurements

This is the number one mistake parents make! When you look at a size chart on our store, those numbers represent the measurements of the clothes themselves, NOT your child's body.

If your child’s actual net chest measurement is exactly 60 cm, and you order a size with a 60 cm garment chest, the outfit will be completely unwearable. Your child won't even be able to breathe comfortably or hug the bride!

🕊️ Rule 2: Always Calculate the "Ease Allowance" (Comfort Room)

To ensure your child can freely sit, dance, and eat wedding cake, you must add a comfort buffer to their net body measurements before checking the size chart.

  • For Shirts & Blazers: Add 4 – 6 cm of ease to their net chest measurement.

  • For Flower Girl Dresses: Add 3 – 5 cm of ease to their net chest and waist.

The Sizing Formula: Your Child's Net Chest + 5cm = Your Target Garment Chest Size.

⏳ Rule 3: Factory in the "Growth Buffer" for Future Weddings

Are you ordering 3 to 6 months ahead of the wedding season? Children grow at lightning speed!

  • If you are buying months in advance and your child is currently right at the upper limit of a size, always size up. It is incredibly easy for a local tailor to take a slightly large suit in, but impossible to make a small dress bigger.

  • Look for smart features like our adjustable inner elastic waistbands on trousers and adjustable sash ties on dresses to bridge the growth gap effortlessly.
